Adobe Lightroom CC 2018 (Cloud Version)

How to Install Your Lightroom Presets :

The reason that your previous Lightroom presets aren’t showing up in the new Adobe Lightroom CC is that Adobe decided to change the location of the presets folder for Lightroom CC.

  • On Mac, the preset directory for the new Lightroom CC is ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom CC/Develop Presets/
  • On Windows, the preset directory for the new Lightroom CC is C:/Users/{you}/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom CC/Develop Presets/

Fortunately, there’s an easy way to find these folders inside of Lightroom CC itself.

First, open up the new Lightroom CC and make sure you’re in “Edit Mode.”  You can do this by hitting “e” on your keyboard (or the “slider” icon in the top right).

Then click the “Preset” button at the bottom of the editing panel. This will reveal your preset panel.

Once the preset pane slides open, click the “•••” icon, and then click “Open Presets Folder”

And voila – this is the folder you need to add your existing presets into.

Keep this folder handy. This is where we need to move your old presets too.

Copy over any presets you want to use in Lightroom CC. Be sure to take over the whole folders as this is how they will be organized inside of Lightroom CC.

(NOTE: If you want to continue using your presets in previous versions of Lightroom, be sure to COPY the presets over instead of just moving them… if you move them, you will no longer be able to access them in other versions of Lightroom).

Now,  restart Lightroom CC.

When you open up the preset pane, you should see the presets you just copied over. You can now start using them for your photos!

Downloading :

Try these tips if you are having trouble downloading your presets.

  • If the download isn’t working, try a different internet browser.
  • Do NOT choose to “open” the file after download. Just hit save, then close that dialogue box. Then go open your Windows Explorer window and locate the zip file, which is most likely in your Downloads folder. Extract the file according to instructions on share above.
  • Can’t Unzip? If on a PC right clicking does not offer “extract files”, then you may need to download an external program to unzip. We recommend trying WinRar, a free unzipping program.

Presets not showing up? :

  • Try shutting down your Lightroom and restart.
  • If the preset collection name shows in Lightroom but not the individual presets, click the triangle to the left of the collection name and the templates will drop down.
  • Make sure the folder you copied into the Develop Presets folder actually holds the presets and not another folder.
  • Make sure you copied the right presets into the right folder.
  • Do NOT check “Store Presets With Catalog.” This setting is found to the left of “Show Lightroom Presets Folder” in your Preferences menu. If you have multiple catalogs, your presets will not show up in additional ones.
  • Make sure that you EXTRACTED the zip file. If you merely double clicked on the folder (on a PC), you will get access to the presets, but those will NOT be extracted files and will NOT copy/paste correctly and will NOT show up in your Lightroom.
